Earlier, Tecno launched the Camon 17 in Kenya. Now, the smartphone manufacturer is expanding the lineup with new smartphones. Tecno has launched two new devices in Nigeria and Kenya. They are named Tecno Camon 17P and Camon 17 Pro. They are not much different but the Pro version has additional benefits. Let’s check out each device below.
Tecno Camon 17P
The 17P comes with a 6.8-inch IPS LCD panel. It has a resolution of FHD+ 1080 x 2460 pixels and comes with 395 PPI, 500 nits peak brightness, and an 82% screen-to-body ratio. Thankfully, more brands are switching to punch hole notch. It makes the device look modern. Teardrop notch is a big no for me.
Tecno Camon 17 Pro
The Camon 17 Pro has a similar 6.8-inch IPS LCD FHD+ display. However, it gets a 90Hz higher refresh rate. On the camera side, the Camon 17 Pro gets an ultra-wide sensor instead of an AI sensor. The front selfie camera is a 48MP shooter instead of 16MP on the Camon 17P....
Camon 17 Pro features the Helio G95 chipset. It seems like this phone is going against Realme 8. There is a 5000mAH battery on the Pro model however it supports a faster 25W charging. As a bonus, the Pro model also has stereo speakers. Both of the phones come with HiOS 7.6 based on Android 11. Color options for this phone are Dream Silver and Malibu Blue.
Price and variants
Currently, the devices are available in Nigeria and Kenya. The 6/128GB model of Tecno Camon 17P is priced at ₦97,000 (~$236). While the 8/256GB model of the Tecno Camon 17 Pro has a price tag of ₦130,000 (~$317). For now, it seems like there is a single variant of each. We are expecting to see these devices in other regions as well. What are your opinions on Camon 17P and Camon 17 Pro? Let us know in the comments section below.
