If there are questions running through the mind of Xiaomi Users, the Question at this term is about  Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 pro. Prospective Users and fans planning on buying or even have gotten any of these devices would be wandering what is really the Similarities and differences in terms of both hardware components and even the Software components?

These questions have led me into writing this article in order to be of help and benefit to prospective buyers and fans alike.

These are two gigantic devices that could be confused for the other especially with the naming trend placed on both Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 pro.

NAMING TACTICS

The  Redmi Note 9S is the global Variant for the Redmi Note 9 Pro India. While the Redmi Note 9 pro Global is named Redmi Note 9 pro  Max in India. Hope this is clear to you now?

Permit me to elaborate on this topic of discussion. Both devices were launched around April but we're available May 2020.

These devices are sure termed as an upgrade to the Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro devices  respectively in terms of Chipset, battery capacity, charging speed, screen size, design and many others.

1. SCREEN SIZE

The screen size of both devices are equal, placed at about 6.67inch display which is around 16cm in height. So if your thought was that the devices have different screen sizes, now you know for a fact that it is the opposite.

2.DESIGN LANGUAGE

What I meant by design language is the overall fabrication and packaging of these devices. The body are both slim, carved with the same curves and same feel in the hands.
So in terms of design there isn't any difference.

3. CHIPSET

The Chipset or microprocessor used on these devices is the Snapdragon 720G. A powerful processor whose G is  standing for Gaming. This Chipset is accompanied with the same CPU and GPU sizes.
So in terms of functions and speed you would expect almost the same thing depending on the UI Optimization capabilities though.

4. FRONT FACING CAMERA

The front facing camera is 16MP for both devices, placed at the middle on TOP of the screen. It is better known as a punch hole display. Both having screen flash when taking night shots incase of darkness the screen will flash to properly capture one's face.

5. BATTERY CAPACITY

The battery capacity fabricated into these two fantastic devices is the non removable 5020mAh battery. A really giant battery enough for day to day activities without fear for battery life. I really love the battery size though.

6.FINGER PRINT SENSOR DESIGN

The finger print sensor is a side mounted one right underneath the power button for easy access.
But during usage one needs to be careful not to send the wrong command by wrongly pressing the button.
How it works is simple. Simple tap on the button and your finger print sensor will respond and if you wanna make use of the power button simple press the power button. These can be done easily when used to and as fast as possible.

7. PORTS PLACEMENTS AND DESIGN

The placements of 3.5mm jack for heart, USB TYPE C port for charging, The main microphone and the noise cancellation micro, the LED indicator, The Sensor, speaker and SIM slots are the same no difference whatsoever. So do not be confused.

8. IR BLASTER

The IR blaster is a feature used by mostly Xiaomi Redmi Devices for the control of Electronic appliances. So you have a smartphone and a remote at the same time. This feels great. Although Gionee devices were the pioneer of this. Features far back as 2015.

9. MIUI/OS/ANDROID VERSION FEATURES

The Android version out of the box is the Android 10 for both devices. Attached to this is the Xiaomi MIUI skins called the MIUI 11. 10. SCREEN PIXEL DENSITY AND MAXIMUM BRIGHTNESS

The screen pixel display are 1080 by 2400. With a bright upto 500 nits usable under direct sunlight without stretching your retina.

11. SCREEN DISPLAY TYPE

Both devices are using FHD LCD screens as is with the trend with REdmi Note series. This shouldn't put you off though especially if you are used to AMOLED screens.
I also wish that Amoled screen surfaces in the Redmi Note 10 series but at a greater cost.

12. BODY PROTECTION

The protection generously used here is the Corning Gorilla Glass 5 used on both front and back. This is really great because even Samsung are still using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front of their devices not to mention back.
This protection gives you a premium feel, standing you out in the crowd.

13. COLOURS

The colours accompanied with these these devices are Forest green, Arora Green, Glacier White and instatellar grey. All these colours are fantastic with white pouches attached except for the black pouch attached with the instatellar grey colour.

14. WEIGHT

The weight of these devices is a whopping 209 grams reason because of giant battery and large screen size but it feels good and usable with one hand but you need both hands my friend.

14. SD CARD SLOT AND SIM SLOT

The Aim slot is a triple tray housing a dual nano SIM plus a dedicated SD Card slot sufficient enough for extra storage space found on the top left hand side of These devices.

15. POWER CONSUMPTION

The rate at which these devices consume power is equal since they both have same Chipset, battery, screen and so on.

Now to the Differences attached to these devices. I can categorically affirm that the differences pronounced on these devices are negligible and might not be noticed except one is really skeptical about details and output efficiency.

1. STORAGE CAPACITY

The storage capacity in the form of RAM and ROM are few of the notable differences between these two devices.
The Redmi Note 9S has the 4GB RAM & 64GB ROM and a 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM respectively. While the Redmi Note 9 pro has only 6GB RAM VARIANT. These include the 6GB RAM & 64GB ROM and a 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM. that's it with the differences in terms of storage.

2. CHARGER OR POWER ADAPTER

The charger or power adapter package into the individual boxes of both Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 pro are different. Redmi Note 9S is attached with 22.5Watt charger while Redmi Note 9 PRO debuted with a powerful 33 Watt charger out of the box.

3. CHARGING SPEED/TIME

Based on the calibration of the Snapdragon 720G Chipset the maximum charging power input is 18 Watt for Redmi Note 9S even though the 22.5W adapter is available while the Redmi Note 9 pro supports a 30 Watt charging speed even though 33W adapter is attached.
It takes Note 9Pro about 1 hour 10 minutes to fully charge from 0% - 100% while the Redmi Note 9S is about 2 Hours to fully charge at the same rate.
So if you are in love with charging speed to save time then Note 9 pro is your device.

4. REAR OR BACK CAMERA SIZES

The noticeable Differences also associated with these two behemoth devices is the 48MP rear camera found on redmi note 9 s and 64mp camera found on the Redmi Note 9 PRO.
Attached to these are 8MP macro, 5MP for depth and 2MP for macro.
So if you are a camera freak then go for Redmi Note 9 pro very simple as that. The 64MP CAMERA IS ALSO FOUND on the Redmi Note 8 Pro.

5. NFC

The near field connection is used between 2 devices with the same features. But unfortunately this network could be found in India and not Nigeria.

6. PRICING

The pricing of these devices differs based on their differences and I think it's understandable.
REDMI NOTE 9S
4GB 64GB option is selling at N86, 000
6GB 128GB option is selling at N96, 000

Differences= N10,000

While 

REDMI NOTE 9 PRO

6GB 64GB option is selling at N100, 000
6GB 128GB option is selling at N110, 000
Differences = N10,000

OVERALL DIFFERENCE is about N10,000 to N15,000
