In this
article, Samsung A series are astonishingly great devices targeted at the mid
range users. Some of which include the Samsung A11, Samsung A21s, Samsung A31
just to mention a few. Others in this Ranks is the expected Samsung M51 which I
recently made a review about Here and will soon be available in Nigeria.
Actually
Samsung mobile has not been leaving any stone unturned when it comes to mobile
at all class or needful to say all levels. You just have to pick or select any
device that suits you based on the Most Important Features you want or need
from a device.
As the
name suggest this is Samsung A51 that was Released December ending 2019.
Indirectly we could say it was Samsung’s happy new year 2020 device. And I can
tell you that this device based its function is a device to vouch for.

FULL REVIEW OF SAMSUNG A51
DISPLAY
Sincerely
speaking the large display of this device added beauty to it. It has a giant
6.5 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with the capability of displaying
16M colors This screen size is wide enough to carry out any task that is screen
reliant smoothly and clearly without hitches whatsoever. And guys in 2020
screen sizes is not the problem any longer as almost all OEMs have embraced the
large screen size ideas.
Most
importantly is the ability of Samsung to be able to set this device at an
approximately 88% screen-to-body ratio, making this devices bezel to be minimal
with just a 12% fraction. It is an incredible design from Samsung.
The screen
resolution is the well-known 1080 x 2400 pixels that suits the large display
embedded into this phone along with a 405 ppi density.

Furthermore
in its ranks of display is one of the undisputable best displays you could get
on any category of smartphones worldwide. The Super Amoled Screen display which
is quite expensive but clearer and attractive to be looked upon. Listen, I did
not say just Amoled, But SUPER AMOLED DISPLAY. I can tell you plainly that once
an individual is used to an Amoled screen displays, It could be difficult for
the individual to switch to other kinds of display. Lets say LCD displays.
Based on
this you could expect quite a high price on this device not because of any
other factor but reasons due to the Super Amoled screen used. And please try to
protect your device’s screen because if it peradventure develop any screen
fault, then prepare to cough out about N50,000 in Nigeria for this screen.
That’s how expensive it is.
Corning
Gorilla Glass 3 was used as a shield and protection on this screen. I would
have expected Samsung to do better in this expect when Xiaomi devices are busy
debuting with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 not only in the front but at the back
also. But at least there is a bit of a protection.
My remarks
on this screen is very simple. It is excellent, beating almost all devices in
its ranks.
CHIPSET OR MICROPROCESSOR
Samsung
are in the habit of switching chipsets on their smartphones especially the
global variants. They sometimes use their own Exynos chipset and often times
uses the Snapdragon chipsets, reasons best known to them though.
But in all
either of the brands chipset is good and should be reckon with when compared to
others. The Exynos 9611 chipset is said to utilises the
same 10nm process as its predecessor which in terms of power
efficiency is not really the best. It comes fabricated with four Cortex A73
cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.3GHz as well as four Cortex A53 cores
clocked at 1.7GHz maximum all under the central processing unit known as the
CPU, in a 64-bit octa-core processor arrangement. The has a graphics processor
called the Mali G72 which is mostly responsible for hard tasks like gaming and
so on.
Most people are busy comparing this processor with the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S and 9 pro Snapdragon 720G, but they are wrong because its functions and capabilities outweighs that of the Exynos 9611 by far. We could only compare this chipset with the Snapdragon 665 used on Redmi Note 8 a year ago.

Although
its efficiency level surpasses that of SD 665 by 5% points only. So you can see
that they are almost the same. Also in terms of power efficiency the semi
conductor chipset is 1nm smaller meaning their power consumption is almost but
just the same.
My verdict
on this device in terms of chipset performance is that you could pick Redmi Note 8 over this or vice versa expect if you will be selecting based on screen
display type or probably a larger screen.
In terms
of comparisons side by side Redmi Note 8 and Samsung A51 speed and performance
were just equal. But I will leave this comparison issue fully in my next
article. Do check back.
STORAGE AND RAM
Internal
Storage: In the storage department, this Samsung A51 comes with multiple or
different variants. These include the 64GB and 128GB variants. These are the
basic storage requirements on an android device and users should have no reason
to worry due to the fact that the phone also has a dedicated SD card slot for
and addition or extension of the storage facility.
RAM: It
has almost three different RAM configurations, these include 4GB, 6GB and 8GB
with different internal memory configurations. The one easily seen in Nigeria
is the 128GB 4GB RAM.
64GB 4GB RAM,
128GB 4GB RAM,
128GB 6GB RAM,
128GB 8GB RAM
The device
also has a UFS 2.0 technology which enhances high speed data reading and
transfer from this device to either a computer or reading data from SD
cards.

BATTERY
Guys, a
Li-Po 4000 mAh, non-removable battery is the power source or shall I say power
bank supporting this great device. The same battery size used on Redmi Note 8.
This should serve in its own ranks as usual. But do not expect an all day standby support if you are a heavy user. Because these batteries these days
tends to disappoint. With a 6.5 inch display and a SUPER AMOLED display, guys
expect battery draining on this device because all these requires power to
maintain.
From user
experience point of view it lasted about 12 hours of continuous uninterrupted
heavy usage. Mind you minus game play. During gamin this phone was able to serve
me for 6 hours of online gaming such as PES 2020 and PUGB at least you know the
rest.
Still in
this department, I have to speak on the charging speed. Samsung A51 is capable
of Charging fast capped at 15W maximum while the Redmi Note 8 charges at 18W
maximum but with a 10W charger out of the box though.
As a
moderate user this device is a great one and a prospective user doesn’t have to
think twice in some aspect before accepting the terms of the phone.
CAMERA PERFORMANCE
THE REAR
CAMERA: Guys this is not the official article where I compare this Samsung A51 to Redmi Note 8 but in summary I would like to say that when you see this
Samsung device, in a way you have seen the Redmi Note 8 also.
The rear
camera setup are arranged in an L-shaped format with the LED flash in between.
They are Quad camera setup as follows; 48 MP, which is responsible for covering
(wide) areas producing one of the best photos. 12 MP, at 123˚ (ultrawide) angle
coverage which is as good as anything. Then you have the 5 MP, for macro photo
and the last 5 MP, for depth sensing. It Features a LED flash, panorama mode
and an HDR output. In terms of Video, it supports a 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/120fps
and a gyro-EIS.
SELFIE
CAMERA
The front
facing camera is a Single 32 MP camera generous enough to be used as a selfie
camera. It performs the regular wide functions when taking photos. It also
features and HDR with a Video recording feature set at 1080p@30fps.
I was
really impressed with the camera sample photos taken before now and I can tell
you that they were as sharp as you can think. Thanks to one of the best android
UI called the oneUI.

BODY BUILD
Sincerely
speaking I love phones with almost no bazels, and this device promises that.
The design of the body is absolutely premium in nature and cannot be under
rated. It has a dimensions of 158.5 x 73.6 x 7.9 mm that is (6.24 x 2.90 x 0.31 in) in size. It
has a weight of about 172 g without casing which later increased to about 180 g
with a case attached. As earlier mentioned the screen is protected with a
Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a plastic back and a plastic frame. I don’t really
like the plastic used on the back but on the frame it is manageable. So there
you have it in terms of body build.
PLATFORM OR OS
This phone
is currently operating under the Android operating system called Android 10
with a customize One UI 2.1. One of the
best UI around which has almost a perfect optimization along with a smooth
performance capabilities attached. As a user, you could expect a monthly system
update and possibly an entire Android upgrade as it is with the trend with
Samsung company.
CONNECTIVITY
Samsung A51 supports the following technology, GSM, HSPA and LTE. 2G bands has dual-SIM model only. 3G HSDPA supports bands like the 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 And the 4G bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 20, 26, 28, 38, 40, 41, 66 which Nigeria Networks supports.
Other
connectivity include the WLAN Wi-Fi, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, a GPS support,
with A-GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and BDS. Others include the availability of NFC,
an FM radio and a USB 2.0, Type-C 1.0
with a reversible connector, USB On-The-Go.
EXTRA FEATURES
There is a
Fingerprint sensor (under display,
optical sensor) that is very fast in responding, it is the most secured form of
security you could get. But being an under display most times it was failing to
read data. Other options of security include the pattern, password, pin and
face recognition. It also has a typing accelerometer, gyro, proximity, compass.

COLOURS
Whichever
colours you decided on picking it is alright. The colours in question include
Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush White, Prism Crush Blue, Prism Crush Pink. So
there they are folks.
PRICE
The current price for the 4gGB RAM, 128GB ROM variant is N122, 000 in Nigeria. That is a very hug price to say the least guys. But I believe that this price point is due to the SUPER AMOLED DISPLAY attached to this device.
WHERE TO BUY In Nigeria
CONCLUSIONS
My final
verdict on this device is that up to the price everything was good. But the
price might tip potential suitors off. But I wont totally blame Samsung because
of the SUPER AMOLED display used on this device, it has to be expensive but I
feel they could have done better in terms of price.
So there you have it. A great Samsung A51 device with its own unique calibrations and features.
