Should This Come to Nigeria? POCO M2 with MediaTek Helio G80, 5000mAh battery launched in India for N67,050  (~$149)

globally as well, much quicker than what consumers may have come to expect because of the sabbatical after the POCO F1. The company resumed its smartphone journey with the launch of the POCO X2 in India, followed by the POCO F2 Pro global launch. Then came the POCO M2 Pro in India, and more recently, the POCO X3 NFC for the global market. Now, POCO is back with another product for the Indian market, though you might also recognize the device from elsewhere. Meet the new POCO M2.

If the POCO M2 looks familiar to you, that’s because it is. As we mentioned earlier this month, the M2 is a close cousin (rebrand) of the Indian Redmi 9 Prime, which itself is a rebrand of the global Redmi 9. So what you have here is a very familiar package in terms of hardware, but with some seasoning on top from POCO.

This move, and the consequent price difference arising out of it, ensures that the cousin products do not cannibalize the sales of each other. The POCO M2 also targets the online market and is sold on a different e-commerce platform, which ties in with the presumed agenda. The M2 also gets a slightly different design and colors, and a claimed ad-free MIUI for POCO experience, but that’s about it as far as differences go.

Pricing and Availability

The POCO M2 will be available in Slate Blue, Pitch Black, and Brick Red color variants. The phone will cost you ₹10,999 (~$149) for the 64GB storage variant and ₹12,499 (~$170) for the 128GB storage variant.
