Complete Guide, Price and Full Review of Redmi note 10S in Nigeria

The Redmi note 10S was launched Early March 2021 but was made available April ending 2021. This device is one of the Note 10 series devices announced by Xiaomi early this year.

This is the first time Redmi line will be coming with a not just Amoled but Super Amoled displays. What an introduction by Xiaomi.

Today I would want to acquaint you with the most interesting features of this smartphone couple with its Pros and Cons. This are my honest review and opinion. But the largest chunks of decision is left for you as an individual to make.

The Redmi note 10S is an upgrade to the Redmi note 9S according to Xiaomi Line of Naming.  But does it leave up to the hype it gathered when compared with Redmi note 9S?

CHIPSET OR MICROPROCESSOR

Mediatek Helio G95 with 12 nanometre fabrication is the propeller and driving force behind the smooth operation of this smartphone.

Its Central Processing Unit has an Octa-core processing units. 2 of Cortex-A76  units operates at 2.05 GHz speed. And the remaining 6 of Cortex-A55 operates at 2.0 GHz of speed.

It's Graphics Processing Unit is using the Mali-G76 MC4 technology.

In fact the Helio G95 is a rebranding of the Helio G90T Chipset used on the Redmi note 8 Pro. I can categorically tell you that the only difference between these two MediaTek Chips is just the clock speed.

Remember that Snapdragon 720G Chipset was used on Redmi note 9S, same processor used on Redmi note 9Pro. In terms of Chipset performance according to NANOREVIEW  Redmi note 9S outshines the Redmi note 10S as seen on the screen shots below:

Disclaimer: please Note I didn't said based on overall performance and build quality. Am coming from the Chipset point of view which is my most preferred feature I consider before the purchase of any Smartphone.

Back to base, I would like to say that the Redmi note 10S is a smooth performance smartphone that outshines it's equals based on the processor point of view.

The MediaTek Helio G95 is a dedicated Chipset meant to handle tedious tasks smoothly. So if you are a heavy user, I would want to assure you that you have no need to worry on the performance and output of this Chipset.  Because Xiaomi were able to optimise it's operating system via the latest MIUI 12.5 couple with Android 11 to enhance the performance experience of this beautiful device.

The Gaming Performance was very smooth and immense along with Normal day to day Task.

The only disadvantage I have noticed with this Chipset and especially the MediaTek processors is this; They are prone to overheating. Believe that! Added to that is that this Chipset doesn't have 5G modem embedded into it even in 2021. So you have to braze up to purchase another device with the availability of 5G network in the nearest future.

STORAGE AND RAM

Xiaomi is a generous brand in providing Extra space for a dedicated SD Card slot. You don't have to worry about limited storage space because you can upgrade it with up to 500GB of extra SD CARD. What a deal.

Internal storage fabrication include:

• 64GB 6GB RAM,
• 128GB 6GB RAM,
• 128GB 8GB RAM

UFS 2.2: according to GizChina “The purpose of this standard is the definition of a UFS Universal Flash Storage electrical interface and a UFS memory device. This standard defines a unique UFS feature set and includes the feature set of eMMC standard as a subset. This standard replaces JESD220C, UFS 2.1, and introduces a feature called WriteBooster”.  Meaning the speed of transfer of files and documents on the storage of this device is way more faster than older generational smartphones.

RAM: The least Ram configuration I have seen in Nigeria is the 6GB RAM VERSION. But you can opt for the 8GB Ram version if you wish.

In terms of storage fabrication, there is nothing to complain or criticize about.

DISPLAY

Taking your display experience beyond boundaries is the #RedmiNote10S 6.43" AMOLED Dot display.

What movies are you watching first on the #RedmiNote10S display?

For the first time like I mentioned earlier, the Amoled screen display was embedded into this smartphone. The Redmi line of smartphones. What a great addition from the usual LCD displays.

Before I forget, some of the advantages of AMOLED over LCD screens include:

AMOLED Displays feature remarkable colors, deep blacks and eye searing contrast ratios.

IPS LCD Displays feature more subdued(though some would say more accurate) colors, better off-axis viewing angles and often times a brighter overall picture.

This AMOLED display has 450 nits typical brightness, and a 1100 nits peak brightness. Meaning using this device directly under the sun won't be a problem because the screen will be bright enough to enhance the device usage anywhere and anytime.

What about the large 6.43 inches screen size? It's a perfect one that will serve an individual perfectly well, whatever the task might be ranging from Gameplay, Movie play, Photo etc.

it has 99.8 cm2 size with an approximately 83.5% screen-to-body ratio. Nice one Xiaomi.

It's Resolution 1080 x 2400 pixels better than most brands within this price point having a 20:9 ratio (~409 ppi density)

The Amoled display is Protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. You would need a screen protector though.

The camera arrangements above is clearly an upgrade from the Redmi note 9S which had a 48MP camera.

The camera produced fantastic photos using the stock camera app. But the photos produced using GCAM on this device were more detailed and more colour saturated.

SELFIE CAMERA

A Single 13 MP, f/2.5, (wide), 1/3.06", 1.12µm

Features HDR and a Video recording ability of 1080p@30fps. You have no reason to detest this smartphone based on camera configuration.

PLATFORM OR OS

Redmi note 10S came preinstalled with Android 11 and MIUI 12.5 out of the box. For now Android 11 is the latest Android version although Android 12 is around the corner. MIUI 12.5 is Xiaomi customized Operating system skin fabricated on the android skin. The overall experience of this device's operation was so smooth and sleek. In fact it's optimization is second to none. You will really enjoy the experience of this device from the operating system point of view.

It is sweet, sleek, smooth, fast with Multi- Features that are endearing and pleasing to the eyes.

No lag issues during gaming, or during heavy task.  But there are some bloatwares you need to uninstall because you wouldn't need them at all.

Don't forget the availability of second space, meaning you can have 2 in 1 smartphone with a single smartphone via the settings on the device. The second space can be installed with different apps entirely from the first space depending on an individual taste.

CONNECTIVITY

Network connectivity ranging from 2G to 4G. You should know that this device doesn't support No 5G connectivity. Couple with this is the availability of Wifi and Hotspot connections. Up to date Bluetooth 5.1 connectivity, GPS, NFC, Infrared port, Radio, USB Type-C 2.0 support. With this device you can control your home appliances with access to remote via infrared port embedded at the top rear right hand corner of the device.

SECURITY

Redmi note 10S has a side-mounted Fingerprint that is very fast and responsive. You won't have any issue using the thumbprint on this device. But you would have to get used to using both power button and a thumbprint on the same spot. When you TAP ON THE BUTTON, you will receive a fingerprint response and when you PRESS DOWN the button a power button response will be received.

Attached to this is the face unlock, pattern, pin and password unlocking processes.

The face unlock was extremely fast but less secure. I will advice against using this feature because a family member can easily unlock your device without stress.

Don't forget that this device has accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass too.

BATTERY

A non-removable Li-Po hug 5000 mAh battery is inputted into the Redmi note 10S . The size of this battery should give users confidence of an uninterrupted power supply to the device within a day. But depending on the task at hand though. On a normal routine usage the battery was able to last for about 24 hours while on a continuous usage the battery lasted for 12 hours. On heavy gaming the battery took 6 hours to drain to 10%

So folks you've got nothing to regret about if you decide on adding this smartphone into your arsenal or plethora of devices.

Another unique feature on this device is the Charging speed. It is capped at 33 watt charging speed. You can charge your phone fully from 0-100% within 70 Minutes. Remember that it's predecessor, the Redmi note 9S was capped at 18 watt charging speed. So this is a huge upgrade and you would love it.

DESIGN LANGUAGE

The body design of this phone is just fantastic. It's Dimensions are 160.5 x 74.5 x 8.3 mm (6.32 x 2.93 x 0.33 in). It Weighs in at 178.8 g (6.31 oz). With all these additions this phone manage to still weigh just a little below the 180 gram mark. Light weight device for everyone. This device is covered with Corning gorilla glass 3 on both front and back. It's frame is made up of plastic. At the top you have earpiece cut out, an infrared port, noise cancellation microphone.

At the right hand side you have the volume rocker, and a power button just immediately below it.

At the button you have the loudspeaker With cinematic dual speakers, your movies and gaming will exceed your expectations, mouth piece, 3.5mm jack cutout, USB type C port. The speaker is a linear Z axis dual speaker with a fantastic vibration. It supports IP53, dust and splash protection. So during light rainfall you wouldn't bother much about your device.

From thus price point, I wasn't surprised when Xiaomi announced the price in Nigeria. If there is any brand that gives the best product under a considerable price then Xiaomi is at the top.

Compared with Tecno's Latest release the Tecno Phantom X using the same processor and almost the same hardware components, one will have no choice than to opt for the Redmi note 10S considering almost NGN 100k difference, no, it's too much. If your budget falls within any of the aforementioned prices, just get this device.

Folks, sincerely this is a great budget phone that can almost perform whatever task given to it. This is a device that has premium feel and look that can easily attract attention. Couple with this are those great features and hardware components fabricated together into this smartphone.

If you really compare the features of this device with other brands using the same Chipset, you would agree with me that Xiaomi have done well. i sincerely recommend this device if you decide to oprt for it.
